Say "hello" to my trusty old Rubik's Cube!
These photos show every side of my Rubik's Cube. You see, I didn't actually peel off the stickers (I am NOT a cheater!). Each sticker on the Rubik's Cube is guaranteed 10 000 rubs before they peel off. I had been trying to solve the cube for months and months, and this is what happens when you persist.
Fortunately, I am proud to say that I completed it all by myself with no external help!
Compare it with my new Rubik's Cube I got for Christmas!
Notice how I have letters on each side? That makes it harder to solve because you need to make the centres rotated correctly.

I also love Rubiks Cubes. I think it's great you solved one without external help. I, unfortunately, cheated…a little… but I did solve a 4 x 4 without help, and that makes me happy! The problem with 4 x 4's is that the variable middle movement causes some major problems. (Am I the first to ever post a comment?)

I figured out how to solve one with only one algorithm that I got part of from a friend.
I have a 4x4 as well. I can solve it — sometimes.
I try to solve it like a regular Rubik's Cube, but I first complete the centres (middle 2x2 on each face), then the middle edges.
There is this strange thing called a "parity error", which is why I can only solve the cube sometimes. Basically when I get to the last few steps of solving, this strange thing happens where it is impossible to solve, and this is because the middle 2x2 squares are out of place.
It really annoys me!
When I solve the 4x4, I use it like a 2x2 for fun!

Heh, the parity error. That was fun. I got mine on Christmas, and I immediately mixed it and tried to solve it. Well, I did as you did: middles, white sides, white corners, red, orange, blue, and green sides, align those correctly, and then I solved the yellow sides with some complex algorithm I invented. At that point, I found that I couldn't flip the yellow sides without flipping the sides everywhere else: Parity.
Well, I did find a way to solve the error, so it is possible! :) Try finding it, because I know it exists. (and by now, I forgot it, since its been a while since I last touched it.)

Fun? Fun?! You describe the parity error as 'fun'?

Well at least you've given me hope! If it is possible, then I will continue searching for it!

Rubik Cubes usually comes to you solved. The best way to solve the cube is to use the reverse sequence of moves to the one used to shuffle it ;).

Got a 5x5 for my birthday! So far, I only need to solve the last layer. It isn't too much harder than a 4x4 since there shouldn't be parity.

Gawd! 5x5! I want one!
The problem with the 4x4, I found, was that it kept breaking easily if the axisGod damn it! What is the plural of axis? aren't aligned properly when turned. Is the problem worse or better with the 5x5?

As for the problem, I've never actually broken my rubiks cube doing that, but the 5x5 is so much flimsier.
